Sample Visual Design Score

Excellent

Sample score 76 out of 100, rated Excellent.

  • Typography78
  • Colour & Contrast72
  • Spacing & Layout80
  • Consistency74
  • Imagery76
A strong visual foundation, with opportunities to improve consistency and contrast. Illustration only — your score is calculated from your own website.

Five categories. One transparent score.

Every category is scored 0–100 from measurements of your live page and a review of desktop and mobile screenshots. Measured failures set hard limits, so a category can't score well when the page itself shows it failing.

01

Typography

Font choices, hierarchy, readability and consistency.

Measured
Typefaces in use, font-size scale, heading vs body size, line length, text under 12px.
Score limit
Capped at 60 when three or more type problems are measured.
02

Colour & Contrast

Colour relationships, contrast and accessibility.

Measured
WCAG contrast ratio of every piece of text against its real background; palette size.
Score limit
Capped at 70 with any failing contrast, 50 with five or more.
03

Spacing & Layout

Alignment, whitespace, rhythm and composition.

Measured
Spacing values and how many follow a consistent scale; sideways scroll on desktop and phone.
Score limit
Capped at 60 when the page scrolls sideways on a phone.
04

Consistency

Repeated UI patterns, components and visual language.

Measured
Number of distinct button styles and corner radii across buttons, inputs, cards and images.
Score limit
Capped at 60 with more than 4 button styles.
05

Imagery

Image quality, relevance, cropping and visual consistency.

Measured
Images shown larger than their resolution, stretched out of proportion, oversized or broken.
Score limit
Capped at 70 for blurry, 60 for stretched and 50 for broken images.

Overall score = the average of the five category scores. The same number appears in your free preview and in your complete report.

What your score means.

The same four ratings are used on the website and in every PDF report.

  1. 76–100ExcellentA strong, consistent visual system with only refinements left to make.
  2. 61–75Solid FoundationProfessional overall, with clear opportunities to improve consistency and polish.
  3. 41–60Needs WorkNoticeable issues that weaken readability, consistency or credibility.
  4. 0–40Needs Significant WorkMultiple issues across the page; fixing them will change how the site is perceived.

Audit scores are directional indicators based on the evaluated page and the audit methodology. They are intended to identify improvement opportunities, not to represent an absolute measure of design quality.

Not all visual problems have the same impact.

Every finding is rated by its effect on:

  • User comprehension
  • Brand perception
  • Usability
  • Trust
  • Consistency
  • Conversion
Critical impact

Issues that significantly damage clarity, trust or usability.

High impact

Issues that noticeably weaken the visual experience or brand perception.

Medium impact

Issues worth fixing for consistency and polish.

Low impact

Minor refinements that lift overall quality.

Example visual design findings.

Sample findings for illustration — your report contains findings for your own website.

01High impactTypographySample

Typography hierarchy needs improvement

Why it matters: Visitors struggle to tell the primary message apart from supporting content.

Recommendation: Establish a clearer heading, subheading and body-text hierarchy from one type scale.

02High impactColour & ContrastSample

Body text and navigation fail contrast

Why it matters: Light grey text on white is hard to read on phones, in sunlight and for anyone with low vision.

Recommendation: Darken muted text to at least 4.5:1 against its background, e.g. #595959 on white.

03Medium impactSpacing & LayoutSample

Spacing varies from section to section

Why it matters: Uneven gaps make the page feel assembled rather than designed, and weaken visual rhythm.

Recommendation: Introduce a spacing scale (8, 16, 24, 32px…) and apply it to every section and card.

04Medium impactConsistencySample

Five different button styles

Why it matters: When every action looks different, visitors can’t tell at a glance what is clickable or most important.

Recommendation: Define one primary and one secondary button style and use them everywhere.

05Medium impactImagerySample

Hero image is upscaled and looks soft

Why it matters: A blurry lead image signals low production quality in the first second of a visit.

Recommendation: Export the image at or above its displayed size and crop it to the container’s proportions.
